The Story

About the Artwork

Living on Country is an original Aboriginal painting inspired by my childhood growing up out bush with my grandmother, Millie Taylor (Lennon-Terone).

As a young girl, I travelled throughout the far north of South Australia and the Northern Territory, gathering bush medicine, collecting traditional bush foods, and visiting the many rockholes, waterholes, and creeks that sustained our families. We spent our days walking across Country before returning to camp at sunset, where Elders prepared bush medicine and shared stories around the campfire.

The circular forms throughout the painting represent waterholes, campsites, and important gathering places where families came together to rest, learn, and celebrate culture. The flowing pathways symbolise journeys across Country, while the detailed dot work reflects the landscape and the enduring connection between people, place, and tradition.

Painted in my contemporary Aboriginal style using professional acrylic paints on premium gallery-quality canvas.

This is a one-of-a-kind original painting, hand signed by the artist and accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity from KT Aboriginal Fine Art.
