How Our Story Began
A family legacy shared through art
KT Aboriginal Fine Art is a family-owned Aboriginal art studio based in South Australia, founded by Aboriginal artist Kelly Taylor. Our story began long before the business itself — with a grandmother passing knowledge to her granddaughter, one painting and one story at a time.
Kelly belongs to the Yankunytjatjara and Kokatha peoples. She has been painting for more than 35 years after being taught as a young girl by her grandmother, Millie Taylor, née Lennon, a respected Aboriginal artist whose life story and artwork have been documented in Australian publications.
As a child, Kelly sat beside her Nana, watching stories come to life on canvas. She listened to the stories her Nana shared and grew up watching Nana Millie, her sisters and Elders come together to perform Inma dance and pass on Dreamtime stories.

Art was never simply about colour or design. It was about protecting culture, honouring Country and sharing knowledge with future generations.
Kelly’s own journey began so early that she was featured as a young artist in the publication Aboriginal Artists in South Australia, where Millie proudly wrote about her granddaughter continuing the family’s artistic tradition. She was also featured in the South Australian education resource Aboriginal Art and the Dreaming, reflecting a lifelong connection to art, culture and storytelling.
