The Story

About the Artwork

Living in Country reminds me of the days I spent growing up out bush with my grandmother, gathering bush medicine leaves, sitting alongside the creeks, collecting bush foods, going for walkabouts to visit all the rock holes and waterholes, playing in the sandhills, running around the bushes then just before sundown we all return back to camp where my grandmother and other elders prepare the bush medicine and share stories with us around the campfire before we go to sleep.

Kelly Taylor

Kelly is an Aboriginal artist with Yankunytjatjara/Pitjantjatjara heritage through her grandmother, Millie Lennon-Terone, and Kokatha heritage through her grandfather, Edgar Dingaman. Her work celebrates culture, storytelling, and a deep connection to Country. Kelly has completed commissioned artworks for organisations including the Royal Flying Doctor Service, SA Power Networks, SA Water, Ingham’s Australia, the ATO, and Northline. At just 17 years old, while living in Indulkana, Kelly won her first art prize at Araluen Arts Centre in Alice Springs for her painting Ngintaka.
