An Opening Word

"We paint so the next generation never has to ask who they are. The stories belong to Country β€” we are only their keepers for a while."

β€” Kelly Taylor, Founder

A KTAFA Story

Three generations, one continuous line of story

KT Aboriginal Fine Art is, at its heart, a family. Mother Kelly Taylor and her daughters T'keyah and Kelilah Taylor-Ware paint side by side β€” passing down dot work, songlines and the stories of their Antakirinja, Yankunytjatjara and Kokatha ancestors.

What began with the teachings of Kelly's grandmother, Millie Taylor (nΓ©e Lennon), has travelled from a kitchen table in Ceduna to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Disney, Vogue Living, SA Water, the Australian Taxation Office, Northline and a growing list of exhibitions, commissions and brand collaborations across Australia and the world.

Every KTAFA work is hand-painted in the family studio. Every piece carries a story β€” and the story always belongs to Country.

For more than 35 years, Kelly Taylor has been creating and sharing Aboriginal artwork inspired by culture, family, Country and connection. Raised by her grandmother Millie Taylor (nΓ©e Lennon) in Indulkana and Ceduna, Kelly carries ancient stories of waterholes, women's ceremony and the lands of her people β€” translated into a contemporary dot-work practice held in private and corporate collections across Australia, Japan, the United States, Germany, Italy and New Zealand.

T'keyah paints alongside her mother β€” most notably co-creating the RFDS Flight Journey Line unveiled in 2020 and reproduced on uniforms worn across the SA/NT bases. Her practice bridges traditional iconography with a contemporary palette, exploring identity, womanhood and the lived experience of being a young Aboriginal artist moving between Country, city and the wider art world.

The youngest of the KTAFA trio, Kelilah began painting beside her mother and sister as a child. Her early works carry the same Antakirinja, Yankunytjatjara and Kokatha story-lines β€” a living continuation of three generations of women artists from Ceduna, now reaching a new audience through Disney Γ— Bluethumb and family exhibitions.

The Commission Process

How a KTAFA work comes into the world

01

Listening to Country

Each commission begins with conversation β€” about place, family, intention. We ask what story you carry, and whether it is one we have the right to tell.

02

Sketch & Songline

Kelly maps the composition by hand. Iconography is drawn from her own Country and from stories passed down by Millie Taylor, never appropriated.

03

Hand-Painted Studio Work

Layers of acrylic dot-work are built across linen or canvas in the family studio in Ceduna β€” sometimes by one artist, often by mother and daughter together.

04

Certificate & Provenance

Every original ships with a signed Certificate of Authenticity, story card and high-resolution photography of the finished work in the studio.

Our Principles

How we work, what we honour

Story First

Every painting begins with Country and the people of it. Pattern, palette and composition follow the story β€” never the other way around.

Hand of the Artist

All KTAFA originals are hand-painted in the studio. No print reproductions are sold as originals; every work carries a Certificate of Authenticity.

Cultural Permission

Stories shared on canvas are stories Kelly, T'keyah and Kelilah have the right to tell β€” passed down within family, with respect to Elders and Country.

A Living Lineage

The studio is intergenerational by design. Daughters paint beside their mother; the work continues what Millie Taylor began.

For Collectors

Questions, considered carefully

A note on authenticity, commissions, shipping and cultural authority β€” answered personally by the studio.

Are KTAFA works hand-painted originals?
Yes. Every original sold under KTAFA is hand-painted in the family studio by Kelly, T'keyah or Kelilah β€” or collaboratively. Each work ships with a signed Certificate of Authenticity and a story card.
Do you accept private and corporate commissions?
Yes. We accept a limited number of private and corporate commissions each year, including national brand projects, public art and Reconciliation Action Plan partnerships. Lead times typically range from 6–16 weeks.
Do KTAFA artists ship internationally?
Yes. KTAFA originals have been shipped to Japan, the United States, Germany, Italy, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. International collectors are personally guided through framing, freight and customs.
How is cultural authority handled?
Every story shared on canvas is one the artist has the right to tell. KTAFA paintings draw only from family lines and Country β€” Antakirinja, Yankunytjatjara, Pitjantjatjara and Kokatha β€” with respect to Elders past and present.

The Legacy

"To share culture, tell stories and create meaningful connections through art."
