The artist

Taliyah Ware is an emerging Aboriginal artist from South Australia and part of the KT Aboriginal Fine Art family collective. Taliyah belongs to the Yankunytjatjara and Kokatha peoples on her mother’s side and the Wirangu and Narungga peoples on her father’s side.

As the eldest daughter in a three-generation family of Aboriginal artists, Taliyah paints alongside her mother Kelly Taylor and sisters T’keyah and Kelilah Ware, continuing the cultural legacy passed down through their great-grandmother Molly Terone Lennon and grandmother Millie Terone Lennon.

Taliyah works primarily with acrylic paint on canvas using traditional Aboriginal dot painting techniques. Her distinctive style groups dots together to create rhythm, movement and depth across the canvas, with a colour palette that often reflects the desert sunset tones of Wirangu Country around Ceduna.

The symbols used in her paintings honour Elders, ancestors and the journeys of her people across Country.
