The commission

A commitment to reconciliation, painted in story

The Ingham's commission began as a Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan artwork and became a lasting visual reminder of the organisation's commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Each chapter of the collaboration reflects a deepening commitment to inclusion, equity and the shared journey of reconciliation.

About the artwork

Meeting places, gathering together

This artwork represents Ingham's commitment to consultation to grow and build their relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, and to have a better understanding of their culture, history, knowledge and rights within Australia.

The meeting places are representative of Ingham's people and locations across Australia, including its feedmills, hatcheries, farms, processing sites, distribution centres, and the commitment of its Board, leadership and people to work together to advance reconciliation.

Acknowledgement of Country

Ingham's acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country on the lands on which we work, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have nurtured the waters, the skies, and lands for hundreds of thousands of years and will continue to do so as their culture, traditions and customs will live on for time immemorial.

This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.

Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan — A Commission for Ingham's

Kelly Taylor was commissioned by Ingham's to create an original artwork for the launch of their Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan, unveiled at their distribution centre in South Australia.

The painting represents Ingham's commitment to consult, grow and build relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures — depicted through meeting circles, gathering places and the warm earth tones of Country.

The artwork is on permanent display at the Centre and features in the design of Ingham's Reconciliation Action Plan, carrying cultural storytelling into the heart of the organisation.

A key goal for Ingham's has been the launch and implementation of a Reconciliation Action Plan, to support greater opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and I am proud to say we are making good on that commitment today.

Unveiled at the South Australian Distribution Centre

The artwork was unveiled at the launch of Ingham's Reflect RAP, held at their distribution centre in South Australia — a site that also exemplifies Ingham's commitment to sustainability and community with a 5 Star Green Star rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

The rating is based on a build being both environmentally and socially responsible, such as through a commitment to First Nations support. Ingham's commitment is further acknowledged with the commissioning of the artwork by Kelly Taylor, which is on display at the Centre.

For KTAFA, the commission was an opportunity to bring cultural storytelling into a corporate setting where it could be seen, understood and reflected upon by the people who work across the Ingham's network every day.
