Before washing

Check the sewn-in care label first

Your KTAFA hooded blanket uses a printed polyester micro-mink outer and a sherpa-fleece lining. The sewn-in care label is the final authority because production specifications can change. Follow that label if it differs from the general guidance on this page.

• Empty the front pocket and remove loose debris.
• Close or secure anything that could snag the fabric.
• Turn the blanket inside out to reduce rubbing on the printed face.
• Wash separately the first time, then with similar colours.
• Use a machine large enough for the blanket to move freely. Do not force it into an overloaded drum.

Machine washing

Cold, gentle and lightly loaded

1. Turn inside out.This helps protect the artwork surface from friction.
2. Select cold water.Use a gentle or delicate cycle, ideally around 30°C or below.
3. Add a small amount of mild liquid detergent.Too much detergent can remain in the sherpa pile and reduce softness.
4. Skip bleach and fabric softener.Both can affect polyester fibres, colour and the sherpa texture.
5. Remove promptly.Do not leave the wet blanket compressed in the washer.

Drying

Protect the print and sherpa from excess heat

Air drying is the gentlest option. Lay the blanket flat on a clean drying rack or line dry in shade with the weight evenly supported. Keep it out of strong direct sunlight, which can gradually dull printed colour.

If the care label allows tumble drying, use the lowest heat setting and remove the blanket as soon as it is dry. High heat can flatten or damage synthetic pile and may affect the printed surface.

Spills and stains

Blot quickly—do not scrub

For a fresh spill, gently blot with a clean white cloth. Work from the outside of the mark inward so it does not spread. Use a small amount of diluted mild detergent and cool water if needed, then blot again with clean water.

• Test any cleaning product on a hidden area first.
• Avoid chlorine bleach, solvents and aggressive stain removers.
• Do not scrub the printed face or sherpa pile.
• For oil, paint, ink or unknown stains, contact KTAFA before experimenting.

Keeping sherpa soft

Restore the pile gently

Once fully dry, lightly shake the blanket to lift the lining. If the sherpa looks compressed, use clean fingers or a very soft, wide-tooth brush to gently separate the pile. Work slowly and never pull hard at matted areas.

Fabric softener is not the answer—it can leave a coating on synthetic fleece and make the lining feel less fluffy over time.

Storage

Store clean, dry and loosely folded

Wash or air the blanket before long-term storage and make sure it is completely dry. Store it in a cool, dry, dark place away from moisture, direct sunlight, heaters and open flames.

• Fold loosely rather than compressing it under heavy items.
• Use a breathable cotton or fabric storage bag.
• Avoid long-term vacuum compression, which can flatten the sherpa pile.
• Do not use airtight plastic if there is any chance of residual moisture.
• Refold occasionally if stored for a long period to avoid deep permanent creases.

Everyday safety

Keep away from heat and flame

Polyester is heat-sensitive. Keep the blanket away from fireplaces, campfires, candles, gas heaters, stovetops and other ignition sources. Do not place it over an electric heater or use it as bedding for an infant.

When camping, keep it well clear of sparks and open flames, and allow it to air completely before packing it away.
